macro training

Hi

Tomorrow I get to do a bit of training.

Its a wee while since I did any training, longer since I did training on photography. As a trainer I mean (or whatever there called these days)

I'm facilitating (is that what there called?) a course on macro photography. Using a Nikon D300, a Nikor 105mm 2.8 VR lens and a R1C1 wireless speedlight.

I must say I'm really impressed with the D300. I'm a Canon user, but the quality of the D300 could make me change my mind. But I'm a bit less impressed with the lens, I know its a macro (Nikon calls it a micro - ha) and for macro work its good, but for 'normal' work its not so good.

I'm used to using a 24-70mm (Sigma) with my Canon gear, and it does an excellent job as a general lens and a good job (or better - I've never really pushed it - yet) as a macro lens. I think for the best part of £500 I'd want a bit more.

But I am impressed with the R1C1 set up. With a range of fittings that allow good (excellent) macro work.

Anyway I'm looking forward to the training. If I don't mention it again it went rubbishly, fingers crossed.

(and now its today!)
cheers

d
