Virus' colds and serious illness'

well what a time that was, my PC crashed with a virus, I got a virus, well OK it was only a chesty cold/ cough but I felt like crap. But not as bad as many people who are much worse off. I'm thinking of you.
Anyway back to this photo lark, I don't have any photos of any Larks, maybe come the spring I'll get some, if I can get up early enough.
But Im just about to publish my 2009 calendar, i've done a couple as proofs, aparantly some copies of the 2008 calendar had some wrong dates in December 2008, if you've got one, let me know and I'll send you a replacement.
anyway heres my photo for (from) August

Well I like it, if you don't move onto September.

Random murmurings

Artificial Intelligence is OK.

If you want to make toast.

To control an interstellar spaceship takes a human.

Well not all of one.

Just the brain.

More later>>>>>>>

Anyway this week is mostly going to be about exhausts and portraits.

You never know I might post a photo of an exhaust. But by the end of the week I should have a couple of new portraits to post.

Here’s hoping for nice smiley bairns, and parents who don’t get in the way – you know who you are.

Anyway, have a nice week.

If this one works, then I need to sort the code so a link doens't take you away from my blog.
Unless it takes you to my web site that is.

after training & web updates

Hi

We'll I've managed to do a bit of 'tweaking' to my blog, you might notice a favicon, at the top of the browser/ in the address line?
Let me know if you can't see it, should look something like:

Except that the one you see should be animated. And it wont be quite as large.

I've made some slight changes to text font and borders, but there is more I want to do, I'll get there.

I've also updated my DWF home page, but unless your a pro wedding photographer you wont see it, sorry.
If you can't see it, trust me its really special.

If you can see it, its only a work in progress, it will get better!

thats it for today, I'll have to go now, I want to go and buy a new camera,

look out for some good photos, coming soon.

Which reminds me, I need to sort out my photobucket. This web stuff never ends......

Oh aye the training went quite well, I'll say that until I get the feedback report, then I'll tell you the details.

macro training

Hi

Tomorrow I get to do a bit of training.

Its a wee while since I did any training, longer since I did training on photography. As a trainer I mean (or whatever there called these days)

I'm facilitating (is that what there called?) a course on macro photography. Using a Nikon D300, a Nikor 105mm 2.8 VR lens and a R1C1 wireless speedlight.

I must say I'm really impressed with the D300. I'm a Canon user, but the quality of the D300 could make me change my mind. But I'm a bit less impressed with the lens, I know its a macro (Nikon calls it a micro - ha) and for macro work its good, but for 'normal' work its not so good.

I'm used to using a 24-70mm (Sigma) with my Canon gear, and it does an excellent job as a general lens and a good job (or better - I've never really pushed it - yet) as a macro lens. I think for the best part of £500 I'd want a bit more.

But I am impressed with the R1C1 set up. With a range of fittings that allow good (excellent) macro work.

Anyway I'm looking forward to the training. If I don't mention it again it went rubbishly, fingers crossed.

(and now its today!)

last day of the month

where does the time go?

Tomorrow's the first day of August - already, surely my watch must be fast!

Here's the photo from my 2008 calender,

Its my son, who in case you cant guess, is a piper.
This is a photo of him playing himself out from a wedding, last year.

who knows what image will be in July next year?
I don't guess I'd better start thinking about it soon, I'll need to put an order in for 2009 in the next wee while.

2009. Like I was saying where does the time go.

damn missed out on a wedding

Hi

I hate not being able to do a wedding, I got a chance to do one on the 15th, but I've got another job that day - not a wedding, so I'm gutted.

And as if to share my pain the sky was very thundery tonight.

it'll be a better day tomorrow

good end to a good week

Well that was a really great week.
Weather was wonderful.
I wasn't at work.
I had time to watch le tour,
I had time to get out on my bike,
I had time to get some photos.

Here's a photo of a nice sunset, just to finish off the week.

I'm hoping for more of the same next week.

Fingers crossed.

burned out, in more ways than none...

OK here is my photo from the day,
sometimes you need to travel miles to get a good photo,
sometime you get a good photo on your doorstep.

This is a photo taking from my window, so I didn't even need to go to the doorstep.

Well I like it, but it may not match your definition of a good photo.
But that's OK.

I managed to sit in the garden for a couple of hours, reading a book and listening to music.
I think it may have been quite sunny, my legs, arms, face are, quite warm. But its a nice warm!

Then I went out for a wee run on my bike (push-bike that is) there aren't a lot of hills around here, but I cycled up past Carbery, its a bit of a hill, well its a while since I've done any real work on a bike. I decided to come home via Tranent, thinking the hill down home would round off a nice wee ride. The wind had other ideas, I had to peddle down hill! Gosh the wind was strong.

Now my legs are sore, but not as sore as they will be tomorrow. Must stop watching le Tour, gives me bad ideas

Saturday 19 July 2008

missed a day

well after only two days of posting, I've already missed a day, so much for a daily blog, maybe I could set a new idea and go for a monthly blog, or a yearly blog.
I'll post a couple of photos, once I know they're 1/2 decent.

In the meantime I've joined photojojo,
so far it looks quite good, have a look,
let me know what you think.
Looks like there will be lots of nice tips for photos.

and about my photo for the day, well OK, I'll be back soon.

well here we go,
this first image is of a statue in Newtongrange,

I like it, the statue that is, I'll get some details, and come back to this.

And here is the photo I was going to post yesterday, the bees obviously work better than I do!

I've got a couple of ideas for photos for tomorrow, but they do depend on getting some decent weather.

We'll see.
